random thoughts

-ever since getting below 200lbs I haven't been weighing myself as much, it's kind of strange. I guess I'm finally happy with my weight. I know I'm not yet at a healthy weight and I know I'm not at my goal yet but I'm content.

-I don't know if any of you had problems with this but before losing weight I had a problem with incontinence. Most people my age don't have a problem with this and my doctor was actually surprised when I told him that I did have a problem with it. Now just in case you don't know incontinence is when you have a problem controlling your bladder. It's not like I was peeing my pants or anything but if I sneezed too hard or laughed too hard I would let out a little bit of urine, it sucked! finally after losing weight I no longer have a problem with this. I actually don't think I've done this since January or February.

-I can't wait to fly on a plane again. I haven't done this since I was at my heaviest weight. I can't wait to have room when I sit down and best of all I don't have to ask for a seat belt extender! I always get so embarrassed when I have to ask for them.

-I have been thinking a lot about plastic surgery since I'm so close to my goal. I know in comparison I don't have a lot of loose skin but I'm young, I don't want to have to worry about my thighs being so flabby or my wings on my arms. I can't wait to get rid of these things forever. Since loosing the last 20lbs or so I have also noticed my stomach finally getting wrinkly. My stomach is for the most part flat but I have this little pooch that sticks out above my belly button. I hate it! I can't seem to get rid of it no matter what I do. I'm afraid of getting a tummy tuck because what if I have kids, it will just stretch back out again. I don't want to have children ever and I've always said that I would adopt before I would ever give birth but who knows how I will feel in 10 years.

-In September I'm going to go to Seattle for a week and make a bunch of appointments with plastic surgeons because I don't want to have my surgery in Spokane. I don't trust Spokane doctors very much. If someone is going to take chunks out of my arms and legs it better look good. hahahaha

-one more random plastic surgery comment. I have no idea whether or not I'm going to tell people about my plastic surgery. I know most people will be supportive but I still feel so shallow for caring about my loose skin.

-I wish I knew some people my age in Spokane that have had the lap-band. It would be nice to relate to people in my town instead of just online.

-If you ever want to get a hold of me my email address is sarah.alhussein@gmail.com. feel free to email me about whatever!

-If you have facebook you should find me! if you just search my name
(sarah al-hussein) you will find me easy. It's only me and one other girl from the middle east with my name hahaha. The only thing is that I don't outright talk about my band on facebook since some people on there don't know about my surgery. You can talk about weight loss or whatever just not the surgery it self. thanks.

-when I was 324lbs I would look at size XL clothes and think wow that's tiny I will never be able to fit into that. now I look at them and think that looks too big for me and i can never imagine thinking they looked small. It really is surreal.

- When I see group pictures of my friends and I I no longer feel like the fat friend. I feel like just one of the group. It's nice. here is an example of that.

-I'm loving being able to keep up with my friends physically. Quite a few of my friends now are athletes or used to be athletes so it's nice not to feel completely out of place.

-I've been showing a lot of people that 2 picture in my last post and it is sooooo cool seeing peoples reactions to it. My mom didn't even realize that it was me. And all my friends freaked out and couldn't believe that it was me even though they knew me when I was that weight.

OK so I REALLY need to get some sleep so I'm outta here! her is a few more pictures though from my friends bday last week. I was just goofing around when I took the first picture. hahaha.

1) plastic surgery - you should be careful and not do it too soon. my sister had gastic bypass 4 years ago and is just now at a steady weight where the docs would suggest surgery. you wouldn't want to have to go through it twice!

2) pregnancy/babies - i NEVER wanted to have a baby or be pregnant. i ALWAYS thought i would adopt. then suprise ... i got pregnant (even while on the pill). but after all is said and done, i'm glad i have my son even if my body paid the toll. i like to say "sometimes life makes decisions for you"

I think this is a wonderful post! I was just talking on another blog about a tt. So far I havent seen as much loose skin as I thought I would (on my stomach), but I have about another 70lbs until I reach my goal, and since we started at close to the same weight...I will probably see it later on. Just like you I don't plan on having kids either, so it stretching out again is not a concern for me. Please share what you find out at your doctors appts with us.

I "borrowed" a seatbelt extender from an airline once, and when I fly I stick in in my bra until I get to my seat and then whip it out...I dont think I will have to do that next time I fly.

I will look for you on facebook. If I forget, and you remember, look for me (Amy Workman).

Thanks for posting!

you look so awesome sarah!!! you really do!!! Im thinking Im going to need some sort of plastic surgery for my tummy my daughter was 9lbs 4oz when she was born and she streched me out so I have this kind of hanging tummy that I cant get rid of, I still have a little ways to go but I know that It will still be something that needs to be fixed.

mamawood-
I'm don't want to have plastic surgery right away. I'm just one of those people that needs to feel super prepared for a long time before doing anything so I want to go in just to feel the doctors out and just talk to them about surgery. I really have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to plastic surgery so I thought they would be able to help me out. and with going to school and my jobs limitations I would only be able to have plastic surgery in the summer so I would have to wait until summer 2010 or 2011. and I would definately hate to have to go through it twice thats for sure! hahahaha and I really hope I never get pregnant but who knows. pregnancy is very scary to me. hahaha

amy-
I TOTALLY wish I would have thought about borrowing one of those! hahahaha and I would love to see the face of the person sitting next to you when you pulled one of those things out of your bra! hahaha and lets hope your stomach stays fairly flat. If I didn't have this stupid pooch above my belly button I really wouldn't care about the rest.

Mary-
Thanks!!! wow 9lbs 4oz is a big baby. and I would have never guessed you have a hanging belly cause you are looking so great!

its so very interesting to see what I have to look forward to! I just had my surgery but as strange as it sounds I cannot wait until I get to the point that I am thinking about tummy tucks and such! Congrats you look fantastic!

You are definitely no longer the heavy friend! Now you're the pretty friend!! You really look great! :)

Have you ever thought about going in and having someone do your eyebrows? You have such great eyes and I think that a thinner brow would make you look even prettier than you already do! (I hope it's OK for me to say this -- you are great the way you are regardless.)

On the plastics front, you might want to wait a bit -- you're so young that your skin will probably snap back into shape after a few months. And if not, you can always do it then.

I'm so impressed with how well you are doing! Congratulations on the outcome of all your efforts.

hahahaha catherine that is totally ok for you to say. I hardly ever take anything offensively. and it's funny because my eyebrows are always a hot topic. I hate them because they are curly and never want to behave. I've tried plucking and using that clear mascarra stuff to keep them in control but it never works it just makes them even more curly. I want to get them done but I'm terrified that they will make them too small. hahahaha I really do want to get them done though I just need to get the courage to just make an appointment!

I'm so glad you didn't mind my suggestion! I just think that one tweak will make you look like you're ready to be on America's Next Top Model! :)

I get mine done once every 3-4 months, and clean them up myself in between visits. I love how polished it can make my makeup, face, etc. look to have the brows all organ-i-zized. :) I feel like it makes a big difference.

I wouldn't do them yourself initially -- too hard to get them even. A good brow person will set you right with a bit of wax (don't worry -- isn't that painful) and a bit of tweezing. It's pretty low risk b/c brows grow back in pretty quickly. Also, don't be afraid to tell the person EXACTLY what you want, and you won't come out of there with teeny pencil-thin brows.

Just to reiterate -- you are beautiful just the way you are! This is just a wee suggestion. :)

xoxoxo,

Catherine
