ok so I'm going to kinda steal an idea from amy (sorry!). I'm going to introduce myself again. I feel like in the month I was MIA I got a few new followers so I should re-introduce myself quickly.
I'm a 22 year old college student. I have been overweight since I was in the 3rd grade. I started looking into WLS when I was 18 or so. I wanted to do gastric bypass first but decided on the lap band instead. I finally found a doctor about 2.5 hours away. I found out that my insurance through work would cover the lap band so I stoped going to school full time so that I could get insurance through work. about 6 months later I finally got insurance. My doctor helped me get all my paperwork together and we sent it in with our fingers crossed. My insurance decided to say no but said that if I did a 6 month doctor supervised diet I could apeal it. So I did the 6 month diet and I lost just shy of 40lbs. We sent in the paperwork again and I got ACCEPTED! I got the ok for surgery at the end of october 2008 and we made my date for surgery 12/12/08. My doctor required a 10 day pre-op diet and then a 1 month post-op clear liquid diet. and then another month of just mushies before I could finally eat solids again!
I started at a size 26/28 and my heighest weight was 324. Now I am a size 14/12 and I weigh 180! This has been such a long journey but it has been so worth it. I have had some complications but nothing major.

shoooooot, steal away! I think it is good to remind the newer readers that you started at such a high weight (and can say that bc I weighed 3 more pounds then you), but you dont look like it and now you are just another thin person!!! lol....who would have thunk the day would come?
Sarah! I forgot to tell you that I dont think those tops will fit you bc they are big on me and you are smaller than little old Amy!
I just checked out some of your pictures and i am shocked at how different you look. Your before and after shots are unreal. You look absolutely beautiful. Keep it up!
You look great! Unreal, can't believe you are the same person!
Nice to see you back on here! :)

Hi,
I've just come to your blog for the first time & it was a bonus for me that I found your "reintroduction". I'm planning on weight loss surgery (lapband) next year when I can afford it. We have top health cover, but here in Australia no health insurance will cover lapband surgery completely. People are usually out of pocket between $2,000 and $4,000 minimum. The surgeon I'd like to see will charge $4,000 over and above what our health insurance will pay.
I'll have to read more of your blog to see how far you have come. It's comforting to see lapband success. So many people I know have a "beware" attitude towards the whole idea.. and only seem to have horror stories. Surely there are lapband successes too?!
Anyway.. thanks for sharing your story.
Cheers from Australia,
Maria.
